The Couple

“The Couple” is often a page on wedding websites like this, sharing photos of the couple over the years and providing a blurb on how they met. The truth is, it’s a gift to share photos of the four years Shawn and I have spent together, especially with our family stretched from coast to coast, but it also doesn’t begin to scratch how full those years have been. Shawn and I met in Los Angeles in 2019 when we started our M. Arch program at USC. I remembered seeing him at our orientation before either of us had committed to USC, and I remember there being something about him that I was drawn to. I didn’t know then that I was signing up for more than an architecture degree - I was signing up for a year of building a friendship with some upstate New York man while we suffered through long working nights and longer lectures the next day, another year of sitting next to that man in studio and laughing and yapping instead of working, much to the chagrin of our professors (consequently leading to MORE late nights to make up for days spent giggling), and finishing off that degree with my life partner, nestled in an apartment at the base of Griffith Park where we wrapped up one phase of life and dreamt about what came next.

We have shared a college degree, four job changes, two states, three homes, two dogs, and four years of irreplaceable time shared. There is no way to adequately convey all of the love, nonsense, and joy wrapped up in these years together, but I hope these photos provide a small glimpse at how good this time has been.

I would be remiss not to mention our families and friends who have enriched our lives along the way. We love you more than anything and are so happy to share this life together.
